Chargé Daley held a roundtable discussion with local journalists on the new $420M MCC Compact. In the years ahead, the Compact will improve water and sanitation in and around Dili, invest in teacher and school leader training to improving learning outcomes for Timorese students.

Taking off soon from Oecusse! Today, Chargé Daley signed a grant with Oecusse authorities to provide funding through the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to conduct a feasibility study to develop a new airline that will increase flight connectivity to the Oecusse exclave.

While in Oecusse, Chargé Daley handed over 135 patrol kits to the Timor-Leste National Police to strengthen community policing, combat human trafficking, and support effective law enforcement.

Natural disasters can be devastating for people's livelihoods. That is why USAID is supporting over 8,000 vulnerable Timorese households to become food secure and strengthen resilience to disasters, including in Oecusse, through the Resilience Di’ak Ples project.

Cultural heritage preservation is essential to strengthening Timor-Leste's tourism industry. Today, Chargé Daley joined the opening of an exhibition featuring Tais crafted by 20 up-and-coming weavers in Oecusse through the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation.

First of many engagements with Timorese leaders! Today, Chargé d'Affaires Marc Weinstock concluded a productive meeting w/ President Ramos-Horta. CDA Weinstock began his assignment in TL on August 13 & looks forward to further strengthening the bond between our two countries.

Last week, Chargé d'Affaires Marc Weinstock had an introductory meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Bendito Freitas. The meeting discussed ways to foster closer connections between our two countries and the United States supporting TL’s ASEAN accession.
