On 8/21, USBP agents arrested 3 previously convicted sex offenders attempting to cross the southwest border, preventing them from entering our communities. Their convictions, all for crimes against children, were for lewd acts, aggravated sexual assault, and rape (2nd degree).

This FY, the efforts of USBP led to the arrest of +15,000 subjects with criminal convictions. 26 convicted murderers, 194 sex offenders, & 461 gang members were kept out of our communities. USBP is committed to keeping America safe!

8/24: USBP BORTAC, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, & Arizona DPS assisted Homeland Security Investigations in locating and apprehending a Mexican national w/ an Interpol notice for Murder in Mexico. The subject was processed and turned over to Mexican authorities.

On 8/23, USBP agents in Chula Vista, CA, discovered homemade tire spikes on the access road along the border fence. Smuggling organizations use these dangerous tactics to hinder our agents’ ability to patrol and respond to border incursions.

The remaining fugitive from a Water Truck Human Smuggling Event in 2023 was arrested at the Calexico Port of Entry. A coordinated effort between the Yuma Sector ASU, U.S. Marshals, HSI El Centro, and the Government of Mexico resulted in the arrest.

8/25: USBP agents in Hereford, AZ, arrested Victor SILVA-Delgado, a Mexican national with an active homicide warrant from the LAPD. This is just one example of USBP protecting our communities from individuals who pose a threat to public safety.

8/26: USBP agents in Coachella, CA, attempted a vehicle stop, the driver failed to yield, resulting in a single vehicle accident. The driver fled the scene, but a search of the vehicle revealed 2 lbs. of Fentanyl - the synthetic opioid causing many overdose deaths nationwide.

In two separate events, USBP agents & their law enforcement partners in New Orleans Sector seized +$400,000 in cartel proceeds. Stopping the flow of illicit money is crucial to weakening criminal organizations, protecting communities, & upholding the rule of law. #BorderSecurity

On 8/26, USBP agents in San Clemente, CA, intercepted a narcotic smuggling attempt, seizing over 90 lbs. of cocaine hidden in a vehicle’s spare tire area. So far this fiscal year, USBP and its partners confiscated over 16,500 lbs. of cocaine, worth $181M.

USBP agents in Yuma, AZ collaborated with foreign and domestic partners in the arrest of Mexican national Manuel Moreno-Carrillo, who falsely used the identity of a USC. Bi-national information sharing is critical to border security. Outstanding efforts! @usbpchiefyum

New Orleans Sector Agents, along with their law enforcement partners, are hitting criminal organizations where it hurts - their wallet. This past week, over $2M in U.S. currency was seized, cutting off illicit profits.

On 8/29, USBP agents in El Paso, TX, with state law enforcement, arrested Paisa gang member and convicted felon Alfredo GONZALEZ-Zambrano, a Mexican citizen. His criminal history includes a felony conviction for injuring a child, elderly, or disabled person.

🚨In the last 7 days, USBP agents & its law enforcement partners seized: - 790 lbs. of cocaine - 142 lbs. of meth - 115 lbs. of fentanyl That’s over $10M of dangerous narcotics kept from reaching our communities.

9/3: A bi-national effort between USBP agents in Yuma, AZ & our Mexican partners led to the arrest of Cuevas-Perez, a wanted fugitive with a homicide warrant in San Luis Rio Colorado, SO, MX. USBP operations protect communities on both sides of the border.
