UNH TRRE research team members submitted a proposal to NEERO for the 2021 conference which was accepted! They are working hard to refine the presentation, Inquiry and Evidence in a Rural Teacher Residency Program, in preparation. #NEERO2021 Congratulations!

Hannah Mariotti at Beacon Consulting Group provided an opportunity this Tuesday for UNH TRRE residents and graduates to learn about self-care techniques for coping with stress. Thanks for a great presentation!

UNH TRRE Graduate Alayna Signorello at Warren Village School was named a Celia B. Gosil Grants in Place Fellow. She plans to rehab the greenhouse and connect 3rd grade students to the community and classroom by growing food. Read all about it. ow.ly/QnTv50DsO7W

Congrats to Gorham and STEM educator Shannon Wydra on being selected as NH's only semi-finalists in Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow program. She is a 2018 TRRE Graduate, received $15K as a semi-finalist for the contest.

Dr. Elyse Hambacher from the UNH Education Department met with TRRE residents, graudates, mentors and school partner colleagues on Tuesday afteroon. She led a presentation on Resisting Punitive Discipline and Enacting Culturally Relevant Critical Teacher Care.

Rachele Harvey, TRRE Resident at Conway Elementary (SAU 9) taught a multi-day unit on community. Kudos to Rachele for bringing community into the classroom and giving students multiple means of engagement.

TRRE C4 residents hosted a community engagement panel to discuss food insecurity. Panelists represented Taproot Farm, Ammonoosuc Community Health Services, Conway Elementary (SAU 9) and Nutrition Connections - UNH Extension Great experience for our future teachers!

Teachers deserve recognition and thanks more than ever!

UNH TRRE Cohort 4 Resident Abbey Filiault is the recipient of a UNH Carsey School Nordlom Fellowship summer 2021 award. Her research proposal, Academic Supports for Children Experiencing Housing Instability, will identify resources for rural homeless youth in NH .

UNH TRRE Cohort 4 residents celebrated the last day of their teaching seminar course on Monday. Thanks to CAST CAST and Susan Shapiro for an engaging presentation, Designing for Access and Agency. Two more summer courses to go to complete their M.Ed. degree requirements!

UNH TRRE kicked off its Collaborative for Equitable and Inclusive Practices, an initiative to improve discipline practices with partner districts. Principal Ryan Gleason at Yarmouth Elementary in ME advocates for CPS in schools and shared implementation plans in school settings.

UNH TRRE continues its work with school partners to connect non-punitive discipline and practice with Universal Design for Learning and equity. Nicole Tucker-Smith from Lessoncast Inc. presented a proactive approach to reduce barriers in education and embrace learner variability.
