Looking fwd to 3 days w/UNDP Africa family in #NewYork retreat
I’d like to reflect on
🔸our own story
🔸why we believe we have what it takes to bring hope to millions in Africa
This is the essence of @UNDP: ppl ready to dedicate their lives to improve those of others
#PowerOfWE
As the world moves towards ideation & co-creation,we need to rethink how we make real impact at grassroots level.
Pleased to meet KOICA Uganda Office's Ms. Jihee Ahn, a partner we are working with to progressively transform lives of refugees, host communities & people of Karamoja
Today at the United Nations as we celebrated #AfricaDay , Jude Opima of QuestLyft highlighted how our UniPod is bridging the #education skills gap.
At #timbuktoo we believe that universities have a key role to play in scaling up innovation.
I want to tell you about my mother.
Because she was a girl, she could not study beyond primary school & I cannot fail to mourn at what the world has lost
How many talents have we buried?
As long as I work for United Nations, I will advocate for no one to be denied access to #education
Listening to everyone at United Nations #AfricaDay event, I feel proud to be African
Everywhere in 🌍, you can find African solutions
Young people on the continent are ready to go to the next level. And our support needs to be comprehensive, from electricity to tech labs
#YearOfEducation
”Africa’s young people are ready to go to the next level. They are ready to solve challenges. With little investment, we can invest in the continent’s innovative talents”~ noted Ahunna Eziakonwa at
#AfricaDay #IntergenerationalDialogue .
#YearOfEducation
Education needs to be adapted to needs of 21st century & to the needs of the continent
🙏🏾 Fatima K. Mohammed 💎 African Union Mission to the UN for stressing on the need to decolonize #education during United Nations #AfricaDay ‘Bridging the Education Skills Gap’ Intergenerational Dialogue
#YearOfEducation
As Jude Opima QuestLyft highlighted, we need accessible edutech platforms for young Africans to bridge the #education skills gap
This is why UN Development’s #timbuktoo initiative is investing in #UniPods in universities, edtech hub +more across Africa to scale up innovation
#AfricaDay
“Teachers have critical role in shaping the future of education in #Africa . We need to invest in training programmes for teachers to use #AI in learning”~ noted Jude Opima QuestLyft at our joint #Africa Day #IntergenerationalDialogue .
#YearOfEducation
I fully agree w/ Epsy Campbell Campbell at #AfricaDay event at #UNHQ :
The use of inclusion models in universities, such as quotas, are critical to support students of African descent. We need to act beyond talking about rights.
We need investments to move #FromLearningToEarning
I echo Amina J Mohammed’s powerful opening of #AfricaDay Intergenerational Dialogue ‘Bridging the Education Skills Gap’:
For Africa to meet #SDGs & #Agenda2063 , we need to invest in #education .
We need more, we need scale & we need it urgently.
Change can happen & is happening.
“ #Education is a major driver of sustainable development. Let’s leverage opportunities like #digitalization to improve Africa’s educational system”~ noted United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J Mohammed at #AfricaDay #IntergenerationalDialogue .

Today UN Development & AFRICATALYST launched a joint #AfricaCreditRatings initiative during African Development Bank Group Annual Meetings in #Nairobi .
The initiative will support African countries in negotiating less subjective credit ratings & ultimately save up to $74 million
👇🏾My message at the event
There is openness in the credit rating process. Governments’ expectations go beyond what we do as rating agencies.
We don’t define the cost of funding- it is for the investors to make the call & decide how they take the ratings into consideration

'The important context about finance on the African continent should be about development, it has to be related. Financial needs for the continent are extremely high. We need to find solutions 'Hannah Ryder (芮 婉 洁) UNDP Africa
