Our final plenary session for #UNCWaterandHealth is happening now! Join us for an interview with Saroj Jha the global director of Water Global Practice at The World Bank.

At #UNCWaterandHealth, Saroj Jha mentioned how reliable affordable water supply and sanitation is possible through greater leadership and recognition that poor WASH is an existential threat to a country’s economic growth, health, human capital, and empowerment of its people.

Saroj Jha also emphasized at the #UNCWaterandHealth plenary that the climate crisis is a water crisis. The design of WASH programs need to be informed by the potential climate impact including management of groundwater and surface water. Can’t invest in WASH if source runs dry.

Progressing the sanitation conditions of informal urban settlements face several barriers. In Bangladesh, Rajeev emphasised community ownership & public authority commitment as key enablers for maintaining and sustaining the hygienic use of communal facilities. #uncwaterandhealth

An informative session on taking steps and overcoming obstacles to get closer to achieving SDG 6.1 and beyond. A key takeaway is to find ways to merge local level actions for system strengthening to find systems at risk and take control measures. #UNCWaterandHealth
