What do ancient Roman comedies and modern-day sketch performances have in common? At UNC, it’s CLAS 231: The Theater in the Greek and Roman World. From improvisation to satire, from myth to mask, this is what happens when the past meets performance at Carolina.

I was so proud of my fearless students who starred in the debut of this intensive, Maymester course — few of whom had any previous dramatic experience. I'm also grateful to UNC Summer School for this feature.

This summer, ENEC 304 students traded the classroom for the coastline. Partnering with the FL DEP, they removed invasive plants, restored native habitats, cleared marine debris, and turned their findings into a report to support conservation efforts. Science. Service. Impact.

Summer Spotlight: In a 1 week workshop, multimedia students take their cameras on the road to tell real stories in real communities. With support from professional coaches, students dive into the stories and share them via a documentary website 👉️ cpjw.unc.edu/2025/

We’ve always known that summer classes can be catalysts to future success, but it has never been quite so literal than with Chem 262L! As part of a research project, these students got hands-on experience with synthesizing catalysts. Lab coats? Check. Learning? Double check.
