To an audience w 0 female surgeons & 1 female resident, Sarah Ward Palmer, MD integrated her personal experiences in training & practice with extensive data generated by WomenInThoracicSurg Mara Antonoff, MD, FACS Ara Vaporciyan & others in really impactful presentation Women's Thoracic Surgery Research Collaborative Women in Surgery
We also discussed the structure/length/req of CT training in US & specifically at Michigan CT Surgery Residency, where we've been fortunate to be taught & granted autonomy in simple/complex cases by world class mentors, in program that's been 50/50 female/male for the past decade Gorav Ailawadi
In addition, former Michigan CT Surgery Residency resident & aortic fellow Sarah Ward Palmer, MD, now faculty Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, gave an amazing talk about women in CT Surgery & early career experience with annular enlargement, including her 1st case as faculty in pt w morbid obesity req redo AVR w/ Y-AAE
