UMMC Neurology Residency Program 🧠 What do you look for in an applicant? We are looking for applicants interested in a well rounded and small program. Each class size has only four residents and we become very close during our time here.

🧠 What advice do you have for medical students? Consider programs that fit with your plans in the future and give you the tools to become a well rounded and capable doctor.

🧠 Opportunities after residency (fellowships, private practice, academia, etc.) Fellowships offered include Vascular, Neurocritical care, Neurophysiology, Neuromuscular, Sleep, Pain, and combined Neurocritical care/Vascular.

🧠 How does your program support residents? Each resident chooses both a faculty and resident mentor to help guide them during their Junior residency and into graduation.

The program continues to change in order to better fit the needs of our residents including a recent transition to a night float system as well as more clinical experience for our residents.

🧠 Favorite aspect of the program? The individuality the program provides. Since we have very few fellows, the inpt and outpt services are mainly run by residents with faculty guidance. Our residents become very capable general neurology practitioners by the time they graduate.
