As my final meeting of the Jewish year 5784, I met with Mandy, mother of the British hostage Emily, still held in Gaza after 361 days. We will continue to do all we can to campaign to bring Emily and all of the hostages home. Shana Tova

1 year. 366 days. 8,784 hours. 527,040 minutes. 31,622,400 seconds. Since the horrific attacks by Hamas on October 7th 2023, taking the lives of 1,200 individuals and over 250 hostages. Today we remember them. We will never forget.

For over a year Jewish students have seen their peers glorify and celebrate the actions of proscribed terrorists and antisemites. We had enough then. We have had enough now. We must stand united with Jewish students against an intolerable campus atmosphere.

It was a pleasure to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner MP, and women from Nisa Nashim to mark #InterFaithWeek 2024. This was an important meeting and I want to thank the DPM for her commitment to stand strong with women from all backgrounds.

I was proud to attend today’s March Against Antisemitism, joining so many people from across the Jewish community. It is vital that Jewish students - and the whole Jewish community- continue to be proud of their Jewish identity.

It is essential to recognise that antisemitism does not exist in a vacuum. Universities must reaffirm their commitment to being inclusive spaces by taking strong and unequivocal stances against all forms of hate

Universities must be spaces of safety and inclusivity, not platforms for those who justify terror and spread antisemitism. Jewish students at KCL and beyond deserve an unwavering commitment to their security and well-being.
