Opening remark from Konstantine Topuria, Rector of the University of Georgia: “In standing for Georgia’s European citizens, Europe stands up for the very values that define it.” “Allowing Russian to strengthen its roots in Georgia will have dire results across the continent.”

"Smear campaigns are a form of information warfare, prepared by Putin. We have to prepare for not just [Russian] tanks and military, but lies and manipulation against democratic leaders and society. This is another form of Russian war", MEP Krzysztof Brejza (Krzysztof Brejza).

2nd panel “New Eastern Europe: Enlargement Dilemma” with Dr. Kostas Ifantis, Dr. Mustafa Aydin, Wouter Zweers, Gigi Gigiadze, and Nata Koridze on stage. “Without the overarching aim of deterring Russia, the chances for political evolution in the EU are slim”, noted Ifantis.

"The West did not respond correctly then and that emboldened Russia", stated Ambassador Gigi Gigiadze at the panel.

The third and final panel of the day, titled "South Caucasus: Security Through Cooperation and Integration," featured extensive discussions. Panelists included Dr. Frederic Labarre, Jakob Hedenskog, Ahmad Alili, Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, and Nodar Kharshiladze.

Day 2 of our 6th annual conference “The Europe is…? Long Live the New Europe”. At today’s first panel Ambassador Giorgi Badridze, Dr. Shalva Dzebisashvili, Dr. Ramona Coman and Dr. Pogonyi Szabolcs discuss future of autocracies and societies in change.

📢 "Illiberal democracy is a contradiction without terms - there is no democracy without rights", noted Dr. Ramona Coman at the session while discussing the future of autocracies.

📢 On a panel about the future of autocracies, Dr. Ramona Coman argued that Central and Eastern Europeans are no longer just importers, but producers of illiberal ideas.

📢 Dr. Pogonyi Szabolcs: "There is a specter haunting Europe, and we don't even have a name for it. The naming problem shows that we don't even know the challenges we're facing".
