Digging the peanut nematicide trial today, hopefully we'll get it picked early next week. Yep, it really is that dry! UF crop nematology #jacksoncounty#peanuts#nematodes#extension

Important to pick those dry corners separate and keep them separate. Hot, dry and no Irrigation is “perfect storm” for aflatoxin. Samples here with aflatoxin mold found by inspectors last week. Went Seg-3, and no farmer can survive on that. UGA Extension

There is no shortage of seedling disease and crown rot in peanut fields this year. I've had very little field calls related to this issue, but it's easily visible even our the healthiest fields.

Left treated right untreated. From southern corn rust trial in Attapulgus, GA. Single fungicide app late tassel stage. More interesting than differences of rust on leaves are differences in rust on stalks from treated and untreated plots. Stalk integrity is critical. UGA Ext.

Velvetbean caterpillars and soybean loopers at damaging levels in some soybean fields in Gulf Coast and SW Ala. areas this week. Remember when s. loopers are our target we must use Besiege, Intrepid Edge or Prevathon for controls. Scott Graham

Dramatic symptom of reniform nematodes on cotton near Walnut Hill, Florida. Side by side comparison of susceptible (L) and new Phytogen variety (R) with Root-knot and Reniform nematode resistance. I was impressed. Here for UF IFAS Extension virtual field day.
