I am sharing a personal statement that my family and I have made in response to my brother’s announcement.

Elected school board members not only have a right to promote public education in our communities, we have a duty to do so. Everyone feels positive impact of public schools every day. We’re committed to championing their value and this impact. And we can’t turn our backs on them.

This matter has already been explained and we don’t communicate with elected officials through headlines. We’re happy to set up a tour for Rep. Lockett of the new middle school, even though it’s outside his district. As always, anyone can contact us about anything concerning FCPS

My heart breaks for the children, educators, families, and community of Apalachee. We cannot become numb to yet another headline about students and teachers being gunned down at their school. They need our most sincere prayers, yes. But they deserve meaningful action.

We don’t have to speculate what vouchers would mean for Kentucky. The experience in state after state tells the story. Are you okay with schools getting our tax dollars kicking out kids while keeping those dollars? Vote NO on Amendment 2. #VoteNoOn2
