We are thrilled to announce that Twickenham Sea Cadets has been awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service! We are one of 231 organisations recognised for their efforts nationally this year.

Despite the cold and the threat of rain, Sunday turned out to be a gloriously sunny morning though a little cold but this did not stop our cadets getting out on the river.

This Sunday we had cadets attending the London Area Promotion Boards at Greenwich Unit. I am very pleased to report that we have a new Petty Officer Cadet, POC Lacey, we also had several other cadets who were awarded partial passes LC Sam, AC Lucas, and AC Matthew CO

Sunday 14 Dec was our annual Prize Giving where cadets and staff were recognised for their efforts through out the year. It was nice to see cadets from other units making a visit and the Royal Marine Cadet who turned up in No1’s, a nice touch. Thank you to everyone at TS SAUMAREZ

We like to mix things up here at Twickenham and with the weather as it is we need to keep the young minds hungry. So last Tuesday we enacted Operation Yoda. A great little exercise with 6 First Aid stances that were presented to practice their First Aid and leadership skills

On Sunday with the Thames on Red Boards so boating was out of the question, we decided to visit Brookwood Military Cemetery for some reflection and contemplation. Sometimes you just have to get away and do something different.

Tuesday was Divisions with awards and a good bye, plus a reminder to all cadets of their responsibility and our expectations regarding their behaviour when on courses and whilst at the unit. Tuesday was the last parade of LC Tilly on the 9 Feb having sent 5 years with us CO

Our Junior Section took part in the London Western District Junior Weekend at Rickmansworth Unit over last weekend. They had a great time in London playing super Monopoly visiting many London landmarks supported by SLt Maclean and PO Saunders and other volunteers CO

With the Half Term Break taking staff and cadets away on holidays and other staff on courses plus the River Thames flood management means that we are on Red Boards the 1st Lt did a great job with this Sundays parade.

Tuesday's parade had the Senior Cadets assisting with the delivery of CTP modules for all classes and other cadets practising for future promotion boards. The Juniors ganged up on the CO asking about boating and other activities, lets hope the weather gods are on his side!! CO

Mother’s Day is very important and so I thank all my staff who gave up their Sunday morning to ensure the cadets had a great parade. PO Dulis also took some of our newest cadets through their Comp Crew. This weekend the 1st Lt and PO Saunders attended the LA Peer Ed Inst Course

Monday evening we had the honour of providing a Carpet Guard for the Worshipful Company of Plumbers at the Mansion House in the City of London. These events are a great opportunity for units to network but also provide an experience to the cadet which I feel is more valuable. CO

Over the weekend of the 21 - 22 March we were able to accommodate Torpoint Sea Cadets who had travelled all the way up from HMS Raleigh to attend the Mountbatten Festival of Music, I am assured they had a great time. On Sunday we were out on the water again CO
