At least 33 people will be tried this week in #Belarus for participating in the 2020 protests against the criminal regime. Meanwhile, detentions continue & repression shows no sign of slowing down. We must continue to fight for the life & freedom of every political prisoner.

I am relieved that 30 more political prisoners in #Belarus have been pardoned. They are all innocent. However, repression continues to escalate & more than 1,400 remain imprisoned on political grounds. We need sustained international pressure to secure the freedom of all of them.

How the situation with political prisoners in Belarus has changed in August In August, 53 political prisoners were relesed, at least 21 of them were pardoned by Lukashenka, while others finished their terms. At the same month, other 52 people became political prisoners.

Political prisoner Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk’s health has deteriorated severely. Despite suffering from a serious disease that requires constant medical care, she is kept in inhumane conditions—amounting to a suspended death sentence. We need urgent action to save her life.

Just now, Belarusian monitoring group Belarusian Hajun project shared a video of one of two Russian Shahed drones downed tonight in the south of Belarus. The safety of Belarusians has been collateral damage in Lukashenka’s backing of Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Kseniya Susha faces up to 12 years in prison. When you hear "12 years," you probably think of violent crimes. But all Kseniya did was condemn the dictatorial regime in Belarus and support political prisoners by sending them parcels or money transfers.

It’s heartwarming to see how Belarusians are helping each other. I visited the Dapamoga NGO's 'Zamak' shelter in Vilnius, which has become a home for many Belarusians forced into exile. The atmosphere of friendship & coziness is a beautiful reminder of Belarusian solidarity🤍❤️🤍
