On my first visit to Malta, I was honored to meet President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono. We discussed the new humanitarian fund for political prisoners in #Belarus & the work of our democratic forces. I'm thankful for 🇲🇹's steadfast support for Belarusians in international fora.

On #WorldPressFreedomDay , I visited the site where #DaphneCaruanaGalizia , a fearless Maltese journalist, was tragically murdered. Her son Matthew told me about her remarkable work & dedication to truth. Let's honor her memory by continuing to fight for press freedom globally.

Today is the anniversary of the groundbreaking 1791 Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth Constitution—the first in Europe & second globally. This shared legacy with our neighbors inspires us. We are crafting a new Constitution for #Belarus to ensure that tyranny never returns.

The Lukashenka regime has become one of the world's worst jailers of writers. We know the numbers, but behind every statistic is a human tragedy & a silenced voice. So we must raise our voices even louder to fight for their freedom.

For plans to launch an independent TV channel, journalist Kseniya Lutskina was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Kseniya developed a brain tumor & has been denied proper care. She has just suffered another pneumonia.

Prison puts Kseniya's health at risk. She must be released.

People are dying in Belarusian prisons. Political prisoners are being tortured & denied any assistance. This is a humanitarian crisis, not just a political issue. I call on international organizations to urgently demand access to these prisoners & secure their immediate release.

Thanks to OfficeBLRinCZE, experts will gather for the 1st Congress on Political Prisoners in #Belarus on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity. It will explore ways to help current & former political prisoners. Grateful for U.S. Embassy Prague 🇺🇸🇨🇿's support & patronage by Univerzita Karlova.

We don't need special occasions to remember our political prisoners. For 421 days, I’ve had no news about my husband, Siarhei. Maria Kalesnikava, 443 days. Maksim Znak, 449 days. Mikalai Statkevich, 448 days. Please speak out loudly about them & support them in every way you can.
