I spoke with Chief Samuel Peña & shared his anger. I was glad to hear his firefighters are going to be ok and told him we will continue to work with all of our first responders to ensure their safety.

The suspect, 23, will be charged with 2 counts of assault of a public servant.

'One of the most important things to me as Chief is establishing healthy relationships with our future leaders. You all help me set policy. This is a true family discussion.'

Sgt Valle was shot on Dec. 2 & has been working very hard on his recovery. I told him he’s been missed and we can’t wait to have him back at HPD!

A memorable end to the Ford Motor Company Critical Conversations at @HS_Ahead_HIS on the city's northside.

For 6 weeks, our Greater Houston Police Activities League (GHPAL) officers sat down with students to see eye-to-eye about issues & craft possible solutions.

Privileged to celebrate Ms. Felia Ferguson's retirement from HPD this month. With an impressive 34-year tenure, she has been an unwavering pillar of service.

Her mother, Ms. Dorrene Brock, worked for HPD for more than 35 years.

We are grateful for their combined contributions.

I want to thank President Biden and U.S. Department of Justice for today's awarding of grant monies to City of Houston to hire more officers to protect & serve our community.

We will also receive funds to strengthen mental health & wellness programs for our officers.

I'm deeply saddened to share that today we said goodbye to our beloved T-Rex.

T-Rex patrolled Houston's streets beginning in 2015, bringing fugitives to justice even while battling bone cancer.

Please keep his handler in your thoughts & prayers.

T-Rex, you are an inspiration.

Our Houston Astros may be down right now in Game 2, but I am confident we’ll turn things around.
