Any time is a good time to thank teachers, but after a long school year, now is an especially great time to say "Thank you!" for everything teachers do. Here are some end of year thank you ideas to get you started! #TeacherTuesday #TipTuesday

Instead of looking at changing all this other stuff on the outside we are dealing with first as the way to improve, what if... We looked at changing ourselves, what we think, what we feel & what we do first?

Let’s dispel a commonly held notion about our children…

Assumptions at school don't help anyone. Don't assume the reasons behind kids': Attitude Actions Achievement Attention Or any other attribute. Want to fight assumptions? Get to really know the kids. That knowledge will help them & you in all things in the classroom.

Getting better or improving what we do in the classroom isn't because what we are doing now is WRONG. Improving is about making the right moves to be better. For our kids and each other.

What we do in our work in education should NEVER get in the way of kids' learning. That's all there is to say.

Here is the truth: Kids do not come to school to do our "work." They aren't here to work. It's not their "job." It's ours. We work. Our work is to design the highest quality, engaging learning possible so that all learners have equitable access to it. We work. They learn.

Adults in school, Want to know what's more important for us than getting kids to achieve on a test? Giving kids the ability to attain a testimony. A story to share with others about how one teacher made all the difference. Our echoes reach generations beyond any test.

Adults in schools, If kids feel: Safe to make mistakes Known as a person Like they belong... They tend to act: Motivated to learn Engaged in the process Eager to receive feedback. Young kids typically don't like to learn from an old adult who they think doesn't like them.

The most needed shift in the classroom is this: Moving away from... Students feeling the teaching in the room is something done TO them or AT them. Moving towards... Learners knowing the learning in the room is designed FOR them & experienced WITH them.

Where do we start designing learning? With TARGETS! Learners MUST know the finish line for today's learning, why they need to reach it, & how they'll get there. I'm not talking about posting some statement on the board for compliance either.
