Further to Cork Crane Count announcement earlier this month work has recommenced on The Prism development. Spoke to a CField Construction representative on site today who assured me the 15 storey office project is full steam ahead

Good progress has been made on the 2 main city greenway projects. The upper pictures show the Dunkettle phase of the Glounthaune Greenway. The lower pics are of the Blackrock Greenway, with works to the section south of Skehard Road finishing soon

The 23km Midleton to Youghal Greenway isn't expected to fully open until 2023 but huge progress has been made on certain sections as shown below

Construction underway for 14 social housing units along Upper Cattle Market Street

Hugely frustrating to yet again see the removal of mature trees from the city centre, gradually eroding the very essence of our city. The chopped trees had beautifully complemented the views St Mary's Church from across the river

Over the next couple of days I'm going to try cover the various health care related construction projects around the city, starting with the newly completed Ballincollig primary care centre which officially opened for business this week

The next healthcare development is based at St Mary's Campus, Gurranabraher where works is substantially complete on a 60 bed extension to the community nursing unit

Continuing the healthcare recap, construction of a 100 bed nursing home has almost topped out on the grounds of the old Glanmire Rectory. As part of the development the beautiful 1890's period building shown below will be integrated into the new build for office use

Delighted to see the restoration work almost complete on this previously derelict 18th century Dutch styled gable building on St Mary's Rd, believed to be one of two that still survive in the city. In times past these buildings were a common feature on Corks skyline

Two houses were knocked as part of a scheme to improve pedestrian and cycle facilities in Glanmire, the project will extend 1.2km from the entrance of Colaiste An Phiarsaigh School up to Woodville housing estate. Before and after photos of the knocked buildings are shown below

Another 500m section of the Glounthaune Greenway was recently completed connecting the western end of the route to the Dunkettle Greenway. Construction for the next phase linking the newly opened section to the Island Gate Restaurant has just commenced

After nearly 2 years disruption related to the Togher flood defence works, it's great to see the public realm enhancement scheme finally take shape
