Read through the responses to this thread and then tell me that we don’t need a LOT more housing. And that we cannot allow cities to reject projects that would help.

Single family home only zoning is a ban on cheaper and greener housing types like apartments and townhouses, and prevents and delays nonmarket housing like social housing and co-ops as well. I don’t see how you can support it and still purport to be left/progressive.

The odds of dying or being permanently disabled are so much higher when you spend 2-4 hours a day on the freeway to get to affordable housing than from living in a single stair apartment building.

Land use policy IS climate policy. 🏘️🌏 You cannot be a true environmental organization in 2024 without accepting that fact. We need diverse leadership on the boards of enviro nonprofits to shift this archaic paradigm that is obstructing our climate goals.
