I let my historical YA novel rest while I worked on my non-fiction. I'm so excited to be back to work on my novel. I have several scenes that need to be in the book. They are all plotted in my head, and now today, they will be birthed in my MS Word file. #iamwriting

Today I set my writing goal at 2500 new fiction words a day. That is 912,500 for the year if I write every day. Editing won't count. Just new words! I made my goal today! One day down, 364 days to go! #WritingCommunity

Finished my thriller short story. I'm proud of this one! I have a beta reader & then, I submit it to an editor! If it comes back? I know the next magazine I'll submit it to! You don't build a career if you don't submit & you resubmit when you get rejected! #WritingCommunity

I don't procrastinate starting the story. Or writing the story. Or editing the story. Or spellchecking the story. I have to fight the urge to procrastinate submitting the story because I'm afraid it will be rejected. BUT I submit it anyway.

I got a great rejection today where the agent even recommended me another agent in the agency who might be a good fit for my book. 😊

I spent the weekend at the @careerauthors retreat at the MIT Endicott House. Sign up if you ever get a chance. The presentations by Hank (ONE WRONG WORD is here!) Phillippi Ryan, Brian Andrews, @PaulaSMunier, @jessicastrawse, and Dana Isaacson were fantastic. I loved meeting the other writers. #WritingCommunity

I've been hard at work on my nonfiction book on networking. The deadline is approaching, but I'm almost done! I hope your writing projects are moving forward, even if the pace feels like it is crawling. Every word added is a win! #WritingCommunity #writing

I spent the weekend at the @CareerAuthors retreat. This is my third year attending. If you're interested in improving your novel or learning to approach an agent or being traditionally published, this is THE weekend workshop to attend next year. #WritingCommnunity #Writers

This article really helped me understand how to determine my story's selling points. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this idea. KNOW YOUR STORY’S SELLING POINTS careerauthors.com/know-your-stor… #WritingCommunity #Writers

Back after dealing with some medical issues. I've been writing short stories. Now I'm back to final edits on my YA historical novel before I begin the hunt for an agent!

In February, I celebrated that my health issues had been diagnosed. I was writing again. Then I came down with a herniated disc & couldn't sit down at the computer for weeks. I'm back to writing again! I look forward to catching up with everyone's posts! #writers #writerslife

When you come back to writing from a frustrating illness, it is okay to take baby steps. I just hit 6 days in a row of writing and working on my writing business after a couple of years where I could not sit at the computer. I'm up to four hrs a day. Baby steps.
