“The player is gobbling up the man” Powerful + honest statement from Raphaël Varane about athlete identity. Someone can know who they are (or who they are supposed to be) as a player, but the human being gets lost. Person first, athlete second. *replace athlete with any job!

On Saturday St.Helens R.F.C. won the World Club Challenge. We often talk about ‘high performance'. For me, this group sums it up: 1. They know why they do it 2. They know who they are (as a group + individuals) 3. They know how to live it (4. They are very good at rugby)

Fun trip down to London to speak with England Rugby about leadership, pressure, culture and team dynamics, using lessons from the Ryder Cup in New York. Resisted the urge to wear tape round my head like the old days! 🏉
