Thought I'd happened upon the funniest, most ironic incident in Edinburgh's history.

Until I realised there are no automatic bollards here. A great ad!

If you're 35 and have a degree, your adult life has consisted of austerity, loan repayments, stagnant pay and failing public services, plus you're now thinking about a house and kids and you can't afford to. When you complain, the government mocks you for being socially liberal.

Guidance teachers have existed in Scottish secondary schools since the late 1960s, but should there be an equivalent specialist pastoral role in primary schools?

Tom Mackenzie-Chalmers The council should read Bruce Robertson comments on moderation and the pointless nature of it.

To that end so should Education Scotland who offer many sessions on this same topic.

Andrew Bailey 💙👨‍🏫 Tom Mackenzie-Chalmers It’s really not that difficult:

✅ Decide what students should be learning i.e. make the curriculum clear

✅ Design assessments that check if students know it, understand it, or can do it

✅ Mark & respond i.e. teach!

We don’t need ‘achievement of level’ (grades) in the BGE.

Tom Mackenzie-Chalmers We need a curriculum that clearly specifies what students need to know and be able to do.

It is impossible to have effective moderation of a curriculum that doesn’t have this specificity.

Never mind the breadth of the CfE levels across years.
