Anyone know the origin story of these primary source plaques on elementary school walls? I remember having one in my school growing up. The mountings look 80s. Was it for the bicentennial?

If I follow this correctly, a Volokh Conspirator helped lead the fight to have a President's major priority struck down—on the ground that what the government was doing would imply no limits on that branch's power and was 𝘶𝘯𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥. wsj.com/business/how-a…

Always tough to erase the big whiteboard, which represents hours of work, in order to allow fresh whiteboarding for the next project.

Really happy to finally have posted this short piece on Freemanship (which may change everything we know about privileges & immunities and the general law). Would love comments! papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Anyone else worried about complying with UN treaties (and thus the supreme law of the land) re: bombing Iran and declaring war being Congress’ prerogative under the Constitution?

This is the Institute for Peace building. I worked with them while in Libya in 2012 and beyond. They did excellent work that improved constitution-writing. My son, noticing the empty building, asked who bombed it. So very sad that they and all they’ve done shut down.

Jefferson’s reconstituted library on permanent exhibit at the Library of Congress is one of my favorite exhibits of all time. #librarygoals And just noticed this volume on Laws for Women. Anyone know what it contains??

Washington’s final resting spot. King George called him “the greatest man in the world” for stepping down from power after the war.

Law professor paying her respects to the first law professor of America, George Wythe (and appreciating all the textiles!). This is where he taught young pupils at his (wife’s) Williamsburg home:

Cool fact: George Wythe donated his law library to Jefferson, his student, who donated it and his own library to make the Library of Congress’ original collection. And he died under weird circumstances-anyone else read this??

So sad to learn Richard Fallon has passed. I didn’t have as much interaction, but his scholarship has had a lasting impact on me. I read his article on historically-weighted Pluralism on the tree swing on my farm in NH during Covid and have thought of it often since.
