#ESCAN2022 Tomorrow I will talk about exciting work with Tomas Knapen in which we use movie-watching data to reveal multi-modal interactions in body-selective lateral occipital cortex. There will be something in this talk for everyone!

The cherry on the cake that was my PhD, which showed that there is no evidence for functional subdivisions in the subthalamic nucleus during perceptual decisions, has now been published in Cortex! *also my first senior authorship, yay! 🥳 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Summary 🧵 of our latest Nature Communications w cvnlab & eli merriam: nature.com/articles/s4146… V1 neurons are organized in cortical columns according to their preferred orientation. It would seem that standard fMRI resolution is too coarse to study these orientation-selective signals...

Stale, traditional concepts are holding us back in cognitive neuroscience. Matthias Nau and colleagues beautifully argue how we can break free from our conceptual straight jackets. Must read!

So proud of this preprint! Nick_Hedger_Research has analysed over 700 hours of 7T fMRI data from HCP (retinotopy, movie, rest) and NSD to discover a sequence of novel, vicariously activated somatotopic maps tiling visual cortex.
