Tiny Earth had a blast at the Science Expeditions Campus Open House (science.wisc.edu) this past weekend! Visitors got to identify soil by feel, view soil (including bacteria!) under a microscope, and take a look at antimicrobial resistance from plates with bacterial growth.

The Tiny Earth article about the incorporation of AJEDI (antiracist, just, diverse, equitable, diverse, inclusive) principles into the higher education system is one of the most cited in the Journal of Microbiology Education!

TE students from across the nation gathered together on Monday at Lambeau Field to present their research at the Tiny Earth in Titletown Winter Symposium.

Students shared and gained new knowledge related to antibiotic discovery and spread awareness about antibiotic resistance.

Mentored by TEPI Angelo Kolokithas, 2 TE students, Justyna Kakol and Mainor Vang, at NWTC published their research under microPublication Biology, indexed in the National Library of Medicine. Their research focuses on the antimicrobial activity of Paenarthrobacter nicotinovorans.

TEPI Joanna Klein of the University of St. Thomas is a finalist in the Agar Art Contest hosted by the ASM!

Inspired by Star Trek, the colors used in her art are formed by microbes found by her Tiny Earth students
