Chris @SC41780 Tina Lee SORN is irrelevant. If your car is parked in a public place you need insurance, regardless of whether it's SORNed or legal to be there under SORN. I think you are confused by the different requirements of insurance, VED and MOT.

Chris @SC41780 Tina Lee For example many housing estates (and industrial estates more commonly) have roads which are entirely privately owned and maintained, but open to the public. You could SORN a car and park it there completely legally, but it would still need to be insured.
