Last week I checked out the local Tamahere Reserve as part of my #GreatWalkWaikato series. It was a nice and easy one the kids could also enjoy. Thanks to the local volunteers who put in a tremendous amount of work with the reserve.

We had a wonderful turnout today for the Matamata community tree planting, in recognition of the impact of COVID-19. Each country that has had cases had a tree planted in its honour, with many extra trees planted for our community which faced down the third largest cluster in NZ.

Isobella loved watching her first netball game this evening. Not quite the result we wanted to see for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, but a great experience regardless!

I travelled to Christchurch a few weeks ago & met Kerry, CEO of Spanbild Group & Wade, GM of Concision. Concision is the largest pre-fab manufacturing factory in New Zealand. PrefabNZ manufacturing will play an important part in the solution for housing challenges in NZ.

I am delighted to have been given the additional responsibilities of Biosecurity & Associate Transport by Judith Collins.Over the next 6 weeks until the election, I will be working hard to deliver our policy positions. I will also be representing the #MightyWaikato.Bring it on!

A busy couple of days in the West Coast-Tasman electorate, hosted by Maureen Pugh MP. Some great farmer & grower public meetings and really interesting visits to businesses, including Tasman Bay Food Co.

I met with the team from Discover Islam NZ today, they were a friendly group who were happy to answer any questions. Thanks Sabah, Harris, Milza & team. Well done for reaching out to break down barriers. The diversity in NZ is one of our strengths #MeetYourMuslimNeighbourNZ

Recent PREFU & GDP figures for the last quarter show an even more damaging economic crisis than first anticipated. New Zealanders need to be reassured that their Government is equipped to help them recover. The National Party has demonstrated our ability to do this.

Met with Richard Marles today in his role as Minister of Defence. Our views on the challenges & opportunities in our region align closely. The NZDF has an important role to play in this. If I'm NZ's next Minister of Defence, I plan to enhance the NZ/Aus Defence relationship.
