Day 4 and 5 of the film capacity building training in Kisii County in partnership with the Woman Representative Hon. Donya Aburi was interesting. The students got a chance to shoot short films as part of their learning.

The Kenya Film Commission has conducted a week long training on the entire value chain of film production in a bid to empower the youth with skills to tell authentic stories.

In 2024, we will be celebrating Kalasha Awards for the 13th year. We have grown this event initially by giving trophies to winners, and other goods offered in kind by our partners. In 2019 for the first time, we rolled out cash awards for winners in the 35 competing categories.

Film making is a big business as exemplified by Hollywood, Bollywood, and Nollywood; it remains our responsibility therefore to show our films commercially to strengthen the local film industry and create jobs for the youth for sustainable job and wealth creation.

The Commission extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants, partners, Trainers and the community of Siaya for making this capacity building workshop a success. Stay tuned for the incredible stories and cinematic marvels that will emerge from this enriched pool of talent.
