Two weeks back. Adjustment has been tricky, but I'm getting the hang of it. Missing the noise, colour, & general exuberance of north Africa. The Midlands seems two-dimensional in comparison! Also tough getting used to company after twelve weeks of solitude. People are exhausting!

Such a shame about the wet weather in Paris. It's caused chaos in the cycling and turned the rugby ball into a bar of soap. You have to feel for the athletes who have spent four years preparing for this opportunity, only for the conditions to intervene so dramatically.

Tremendous ride from Remco. Great silver from Ganna, with an incredible save when his bike hit a slippery white line. Josh Tarling in fourth. Reckon the puncture and bike change cost him that silver medal. Tiny margins #Paris2024

Terribly sad that the French spectators booed Tom Pidcock as he crossed the line and during the medal ceremony. Find it hard to believe those responsible are genuine cycling fans. Either way, they've let themselves and their country down there #Paris2024

Big adventures are great, but the bit afterwards is difficult. Feel a bit lost, and overwhelmed by it all. Missing the High Atlas mountains. Pictures and memories are sustaining me. The urge to jump back on a ferry is strong!

Georgia on my mind. Got the chance to work Oct-Dec on a job near Tbilisi. Three months there would certainly satiate the wanderlust that has been rampant since I returned from Morocco, and be a great way to round off an adventurous year. From couscous to the Caucasus!

Said yes to Georgia, found an apartment, now looking at how to actually get there! Train would be the preferred option, but it takes six days and is quite tortuous. It would be easier to get a bus to Istanbul, then train for the onward journey. Don't want to fly if I can help it.

I'd love my next big bike trip to be an attempt to cycle round the coast of Africa. 18000 miles through 38 counties in about 15 months. A huge undertaking (obviously!) If I did a 'buy me a coffee' thing, would anyone help? An interesting journey to follow in return ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŒ

Incredible scenes at the Vuelta. Pablo Castrillo has the heart of a lion. What a warrior! ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‘Š #lavuelta24

One in every five people in Bedford hails from an Italian family. This means we're fortunate to get the most incredible Italian food. Panuozzo is a sandwich made with pizza bread. I went for porchetta, roasted new potatoes, smoked scamorza cheese & mozzarella. Molto gustoso! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Most of the pieces of my commute to Tbilisi are in place. The only snag is the journey from Bedford to London St Pancras. Of course there are no trains running. Why would there be? There's a reason nobody wrote a song about leaving on the 0313 bus replacement service to Georgia!
