Incredible news from Molecular Microbiology Sheffield! An international team led by Foster Lab has been awarded £5.7M by the Wellcome to investigate how high-level resistant MRSA arises, aiming to gain new insights into the mechanisms that underpin bacterial life and antibiotic resistance
The team are Simon Foster (Foster Lab), Rebecca Corrigan (Rebecca Corrigan) and Jeff Green from Molecular Microbiology Sheffield, Jamie Hobbs (Sheffield AFM Group) from our Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, Ethan Garner (Ethan Garner) from Harvard MCB and Ros Allen from Balance of the Microverse. Congratulations all!
I am so delighted to see my paper out in the world! We show that S. aureus drives glycolysis, limiting the pentose phosphate pathway to inhibit neutrophil function and facilitate its intracellular survival. Many thanks to my supervisor Dr Rachel Mcloughlin & to my amazing Co authors!
Some exciting news - after almost 16 years to the day, it’s time to say farewell to the UK!! The Corrigan lab is moving to UCD Medicine in Dublin! I will miss my wonderful colleagues Molecular Microbiology Sheffield an awful lot, but we’ll be sure to keep all those cool collaborations going!
