1/2 A Shot in the Arm for Mbire Youths! Thanks to ActionAid Zimbabwe's #SPA2 project, the youths in Mbire have received a much-needed boost to their green economic initiatives! They received new fences for livestock pens, solar panels, water pumps, and sewing machines.

Over the weekend we trained our first batch of youth climate ambassadors from Ward 17. The training looked at the basics of climate change, mitigation and adaptation strategies at community level, water harvesting techniques, and everything in between.

As heavy rains loom over Zimbabwe, must remember the recent devastating effects of whirlwinds in Mbire. Rural communities, reliant on local resources for housing, are vulnerable in the face of climate change. We must act to protect these communities and their livelihoods.

I’d like to personally applaud Holiday Inn by IHG for their efforts in environmental sustainability. They have shifted from using plastic bottles to glass bottles, from plastic straws to biodegradable ones. I would like to even acknowledge their waste segregation system. Kudos to them👏🏽

Are we at an inflection point for women’s rights in Zimbabwe and globally? The past months, we have been putting together data and information on women’s rights and gender equality. All this work culminated into the development of the State of Women Report (2025).

The report provides a comprehensive assessment of progress and challenges faced by Zim women in all spheres. It also offers knowledge and perspectives to support the promotion of women’s rights in Zim. The State of Women will be presented on 22 July at our Women Summit in BYO.

Last week our Founder Thubelihle Rosyln Ndhlovu shared some solidarity remarks at the Women's Coalition of Zimbabwe Women’s summit where the State of women report was presented. It looked at the current state of women’s rights movement in Zimbabwe, the barriers and opportunities in women empowerment.

I attended a transformative feminist leadership training that looked at systemic inequalities and dismantling gender representation barriers and the opportunities and gaps that we can capitalize on. I remain committed to challenging the patriarchy and creating a just society.
