Jets looked to be stubborn about the run early. Rodgers doesn't have a great history against 49ers' defensive front, which once feasted on stationary QBs. But those third-down pickups gave life to the Jets passing game. And their offensive line held up well protecting Rodgers

Personal note: This is my last column for The Athletic. I'm not changing up what I do, just changing companies--will announce that in a few days--but I want to say that starting @theathleticsf was the best job I ever had, working with most of the best people I will ever know.

A few years ago, I told the founders--Alex Mather and Adam Hansmann--that 2 non-media guys somehow put together the greatest sports newsroom ever assembled. It remains an incredible place. What Alex and Adam built will last for a hundred years.

Being able to start @theathleticsf and work with Alex and Adam -- and living through all the inevitable changes at the company -- made me eager to do something like that again in the Bay Area. I've got that feeling again with a new place. It's a great feeling.
