One thing I don’t understand, is if we have the technology to decide to a high degree of accuracy whether a ball is a goal, behind or out of bounds…..why are we stuffing around with goal umpires??🤔🤷‍♂️ Why don’t we get rid of them and simply rely on enhanced technology?

By “enhanced” I mean saving $2-3M per year on goal umpires and investing in speed and accuracy technology.

And whilst I’m on it we can have the last touch out of bounds rule and get rid of the boundary umpires

Ohhhh baby I’m onto something here! Then we can use AI to adjudicate all contests of a refined rules list and get rid of all the field umpires!! Imagine that……not 1 umpire to be seen or heard all season!! Can’t tell you how excited I am.

I’ve given up on the game I was bought up on and played. That ship has definitely sailed. I hate this limbo period of AFL transitioning fans (hypnotising us with bullshit) to the eventual new game which will be a very long way from the game we loved. Just put us out of our misery

I must admit I immediately thought dejavu……Barry Hall kicking a goal after the siren to win against Hawks then telling me he wanted out of Melbourne. Hopefully WM isn’t thinking the same.

We will finish 10th I reckon now instead of 14/15th. 10th is in the doldrums (9-13th). Honorable season, average draft pick and easily spun as an ok season for players. I’d rather them feeling gutted at finishing 15/16th and take the better pick. 10-13 does nothing for us.
