Education budget bill out. 1. As expected, tier 6 now has a 3 year FAS instead of 5. Cost to ERS is .4% of billable salary and cost to TRS IS .12% of billable salary. These figures will increase over time.

2. Foundation Aid study by the Rockefeller institute with consultation with stakeholders and SED. Report due at the end of 2024.

3. Covid leave. Governor proposed expiring it in the next few months. Agreement will keep this completely absurd policy in place through July 2025. Hopefully gone for good at that point.

5. Science of reading proposal is in. Schools must verify their curriculum and insurrection practices align with the commissioner promulgated best practices by start of the 2025-26 academic year.

6. Zero emission buses. Some helpful provisions relating to how transportation aid is calculated when districts receive federal or state assistance. NYSERDA to create a zero emission bus resource center. We know MUCH more needs to be done about this law.
