It’s wild and windy on Eriskay today, but yesterday was glorious on the neighbouring isles of Barra and Vatersay. The day started with a hike up Heaval (the highest point) on Barra, then after a fab lunch in Castlebay it was over the causeway to Vatersay for a swim in the sea. 🩵

I know it’s been photographed a gazillion times before, but I love this wee red-roofed cottage by the sea on the Isle of Barra. The last time I visited the island it was a grey day, so couldn’t resist snapping it again. Take me back to the Outer Hebrides. 🩵🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #Scotland

Anyone know where I can buy a giant notebook? 🤪✏️ Always expect the unexpected in Scotland. This is one of a number of fun sculptures located in a farmer’s field by the roadside in rural Moray. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 It’s great to be back in the region.

Mermaid of the North, Balintore. In local legend a fisherman caught a mermaid - married her & hid her tail. They had 2 children, but she missed the sea. One day she found her hidden tail & escaped. Afterwards she visited her children by the shore, brining them fish to eat.🧜‍♀️🐟

(Ad) Autumn popping on the Leny Estate in the heart of the lovely Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Currently staying on the estate at their pet friendly property - Leny Lodge. The lodge is rustic and cosy inside and outside a wee stream runs through the garden. 🥰

After a day spent exploring in and around Braemar, it was lovely to get back to Milkwood cabin at Lawton Links for a soak in the outdoor tub followed by toasting marshmallows on the fire. 🛀🏻🔥

Awesome Night Afore gig in Edinburgh last night headlined by the phenomenal PEAT & DIESEL - what better way to get in the mood for Hogmanay than with a rousing couple of hours of toe-tapping music from the boys from the Western Isles and their talented musical friends.

I love this view from the Mallaig Circuit looking across Loch Nevis towards the Knoydart Peninsula. It’s so good to be back in lovely Lochaber. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

THESE, January blues I welcome. 🩵🌊 The beach is Camusdarach in Lochaber- a region with more stunning beaches than you can shake a stick at. It features in the iconic 1980s move Local Hero starring Burt Lancaster. It’s where Ben’s beach shack was located. #scotland

The last couple of days for me have looked like this. I’ve adored history since I was a young child. I have a history degree too - yet here I am many moons later and history still remains a huge part of my life. It’s a joy to explore these sites left by my ancient ancestors.

My lovely boy taken this morning from Castle Dounie - one of my favourite Iron Age Hillforts in Scotland. It’s reached from Crinan Ferry via a 4 mile circular coast, woodland and hill trail. Besides the fab history, the views from it are incredible. #scotland #scottishhistory
