Gen 5 having an entirely new pokedex until you beat the elite 4 was the best thing pokemon has ever done. It recaptured that feeling of being a child new to the series where at any point, you could meet a new favourite 'mon out of the blue.

I don't think I'd have my job without Pokémon. It got me into building my own region which got me into learning about the ecology, history, and culture. I think it inspired my love of nature. I possibly would have still gotten there but Pokémon still helped.
