I've written a post about Epifagus virginiana, or the beechdrops, which is a parasitic plant that gets the drop on beech trees. But sometimes these parasites can turn on each other in a case of "botanical cannibalism" dailyparasite.blogspot.com/2024/09/epifag…

It's funny that "they're cooked" or variants on that is a current English slang, because there's an old Cantonese slang "一锅熟" (literally translates into "one wok cooked" but means "all cooked in one wok") that means pretty much the same thing.
