16 Sep 1977, #MarcBolan was a passenger in a Mini 1275GT driven by Gloria Jones as they headed home from Mortons in Berkeley Square. The car struck a fence post and a tree. Marc was killed instantly, while Gloria suffered a broken arm and broken jaw. Hey dude, I still miss you.

The best selling UK single of 1975 was "Bye Bye Baby" by the Bay city Rollers. It was No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for 6 weeks from March 1975 & also made the top spot in Australia & Ireland. It had been a big hit for the Four Seasons in the US a decade earlier. #BayCityRollers

The best-selling UK single in 1976 was "Save Your Kisses for Me" by Brotherhood of Man. It was in the top 10 for 10 weeks, & was 6 weeks at No. 1. It sold more than 1 million copies & was certified platinum by the BPI. Elton & Kiki's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" was in 2nd place

17 Sep 1978 - The video for Queen's single 'Bicycle Race' was filmed at Wimbledon Stadium. It featured 65 naked female models racing around the stadium track on bicycles, which had been hired for the day. The rental company apparently requested payment for all the saddles. #Queen

17 Sep 2000, Paula Yates was found dead in bed from a suspected drug overdose. Yates had presented the UK music TV show The Tube during the '80s, married Bob Geldof and was the girlfriend of INXS singer Michael Hutchence. Sorely missed by all. #PaulaYates
