What a wonderful Wednesday it is for Ross today! After lots of hard work, resilience and study, Ross has now been officially certified for his level 4 Professional Cookery SVQ. This was externally accredited by DandGCollege. Well Done Ross!

We are getting geared up this morning for the start of December! Joining our menu, we have Festive Afternoon Tea & Festive Paninis, as well as our pre-booked Christmas Lunches. We will be operating with a reduced main menu this month.

Erin has been working with Sarah in the cafe today, where one of their temporary jobs is to act as Christmas DJ to pick the best and most appropriate songs for the calm atmosphere we have facilitated. Along the way, Erin has developed vital ICT and other computing skills.

The Front of House Team have been all smiles this morning, in their new aprons provided by Boyd Group! Personal appearance and cleanliness is an integral part of work within The Usual Place, which these new aprons will contribute to.

We have been having quite a refresh at The Usual Place for going into 2023! The latest addition is our brand new coffee machines, which were installed this week. Luke has been learning the ropes with the new machine - Why not pop in and have a hot coffee to heat you up!

Georgie is working with her mentor on the Drinks & Cakes station today! In this role, Georgie is responsible for ensuring that all trays are kept sanitary and clean, as well as providing great customer service by serving hot and cold drinks and sweet treats. Well done Georgie!

Although we don't have any Soup of the Day this month, our mainstay Lentil Soup is still on offer. Paul has been busy in the kitchen this morning, beginning to prepare a big pot of lentil soup to satisfy our customers on a cold afternoon. Why not pop in and get a bowl?

Jack has been very busy on the baking station this morning, freshly preparing all of our delicious scones, traybakes and cakes for the day. We can't wait to see what yummy cake he produces for today!

Jack's lovely cake is now out of the oven and freshly decorated. Jack decided this morning to make an orange pound cake - with some festive decoration. Jack's cake is available to purchase in the cafe for just £1 per slice. We think it would go perfect with a hot coffee or tea

The whole of The Usual Place team are gearing up this morning to complete their last day before a well deserved break over the festive holidays! The Usual Place will close this afternoon, and will re-open on Wednesday 5th January 2023. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Georgie uses sign language to communicate, alongside her tablet, and has been teaching Luke, James and other members of the team how to sign some words and phrases. Georgie, Luke and James shared this message with all of our customers: Merry Christmas!

Jack & Shania are back from their holidays with smiles today! Shania has been busy on the baking station this morning, producing our delicious treats. Jack has been practising health and safety, ensuring all dishes are cleaned and dried in a hygienic way. Well done to both!
