ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #1 — ‘Flashy’ the dog was actually my dog, Jake, and one of his favorite snacks was Oreos, so we hid a few in the dirt by the totem to get him to sniff the ground around it.

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #2 — That ridiculous coffee scene was originally supposed to be between the sheriff and his secretary who wanted to quit. But when we realized a police station would be too hard to get, we switched to him working from home and an angry wife.

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #3 — The Best Friend Billy song was not in the script. We knew it would be a cheesy musical montage but the idea of adding lyrics came when looking for the loop, I started singing some stupid song over it. Then Kevin did the final vocals.

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #4 — The acronym GGMF (Gobble Gobble Mother Fu%$er) was an idea from a friend of mine who was working as the set medic on a Hallmark film I was a grip on. We started using it around the time of ThanksKilling 3.

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #5 — The actor who played Johnny’s Dad, Terry Reagan, saw the cult potential right away. I remember a phone call with him where he said something along the lines of “How many of those Chucky films did they make… you never know!”

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #6 — The name for the town in the film, Crawberg, is a play on Kevin Stewart and I’s short film Craw Lake that we made for school a few months before leaving for Ohio to shoot ThanksKilling. That short features a young Bella Thorne.

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #7 — This is one of the only shots in the movie where the turkey isn’t being controlled by a puppeteer. A green rod that we erased in post was attached to its back to give it movement. Wide shots with the puppet were generally a no-go.

ThanksKilling Facts You Might Not Know #8 — Okay last one, but these have been fun. Those “turkey droppings” on Billy’s chest are fairly obviously mini marshmallows that were spray painted brown. There might even be a few raisins from craft service mixed in. No-budget magic!
