In historic acknowledgement, Governor Kathy Hochul will apologize to the The Seneca Nation on behalf of New York State for the state’s role in atrocities at the former Thomas Indian School, where Indigenous children were subjected to what the governor said was “ethnic cleansing.”

Governor Hochul has arrived to the William Seneca Building.

"I'm here two months after I was asked. Other governors should have preceded me," Governor Kathy Hochul said to The Seneca Nation in Irving. "I cannot change the horrors of the past. I wish I could. I wish I could just wipe it all away," the governor said. "You deserve that."
