Avoid the vague jargon "officer-involved" or "police-involved." Be specific about what happened. If police use the term, ask for detail. How was the officer or officers involved? Who did what? If that information is not available or not provided, say so.

I don't know if you guys realize that there is now a (very famous) precedent for how saying publicly that you are a victim of domestic violence, without naming your abuser, is considered defamation

Everyone celebrating today has a loved one who has wanted or needed or received an abortion. This is about control and the endurance of patriarchal violence; it’s absolutely not reflective of how opponents and conservatives would make or facilitate medical decisions themselves.

Moments ago, following more than 20 consecutive hours of negotiations at U.S. Department of Labor, the rail companies and union negotiators came to a tentative agreement that balances the needs of workers, businesses, and our nation’s economy. (1/2)

Hearing LIZZO play some of the Library's priceless antique instruments on Monday was such a gift, and we were honored and happy to help her share that gift with her concert audience Tuesday night. Here is some more behind-the-scenes footage of her Library tour. #LizzoAtLOC

It’s looong past time to pay our tipped workers the #OneFairWage they deserve. Remember to turn your mail-in ballot over to vote yes on I-82 this fall! #BuildABetterRestaurantIndustry

I have lots of responsibilities as a mom. But one of the most important is to be a voter (+ raise voters). Appreciate MomsRising for making it easy to help mobilize other voters and advance pro-family, progressive issues. Remember y’all, #MomsVote! #November8 #ElectionDay #vote

Important reminder from Secretary Marty Walsh that unionizing is only the first step: ā€œSome employers drag out the bargaining process by stalling, and workers to lose hope. Our law is not well equipped to deal with these situationsā€¦ā€ seattletimes.com/opinion/protec… #UnionStrong #BlackFriday

The US is seeing an unprecedented wave of migrant child labor right now. Thousands of kids are working overnight in dangerous factories for brands like Cheerios, Fruit of the Loom and Ford. They're here alone and they're being failed in the most basic way.nytimes.com/2023/02/25/us/…

Child labor laws exist for a reason. They're meant to keep kids safe. Migrant children are losing legs at meat plants and breaking their backs in falls. A dozen have died on the job. This is Edwin, a 14-year-old food delivery worker hit and killed on his bike in Brooklyn.

Some thoughts. First, banks must contribute A LOT more to the FDIC insurance fund, since it now covers all deposits. Second, no more stock buybacks and much lower dividends. Banks are obviously undercapitalized. Third, cut exec pay to a max of $1M. No pay for risk-taking.

We're calling on companies that profit from child labor to take responsibility for the harm inflicted on children through their supply chains. Businesses must respect the dignity of their workers and protect the innocence of children. They deserve better. newsweek.com/acting-labor-s…

Trump has denied or downplayed links to Project 2025. These documents show that implementation is well underway, with designated personnel quietly drafting policies that are being publicly attributed to heads of federal agencies. mollywhite.net/micro/entry/tr…

If you're considering Trump's buyout, know that you deserve better than to have a billionaire with no real understanding of what you do, come in, belittle your work, and try to push you out the door—whether you're a food safety inspector or an air traffic controller.
