18 years ago, 20th Aug 2006, Cpl Bryan Budd VC of A Company 3 PARA was killed in action in the Sangin district centre, Afghanistan. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for two seperate actions during that tour of duty. He was a phenomenal leader and inspiration to his soldiers.

Mark William Wright GC Cpl Wright was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on the 6th Sept 2006, after entering a minefield in an attempt to save the lives of other injured soldiers. His actions were posthumously recognised with the award of the George Cross on 14th December
