The question that I think every institution/academic field/university/department needs to ask is "Would we still have the same priorities if the majority of us were non-white?" This question gets at the heart of what it means to further white supremacy without being a racist.

As a professor at a big university, a lot of people come to me for career advice. Undergrads ask me — how did I decide to become a statistician and go to grad school? Grad students ask me — what advice do I have for grad school, the job market, and the tenure track?? 1/

A common mistake I see many reviewers make: they complain that a paper's findings are "not surprising". This irks me to no end. Why in the world do we need papers to surprise us? These are not M. Night Shyamalan movies. We don't need a plot twist. Yes, this is a subtweet.
