This photo is of the Old Cook House for the Dorset Regiment Depot. It was built along Bridport Road and was demolished when the MOD sold off the Barracks to make way for Barrack Road.

It was great to see so many of you at Capel Military Show last week! Thank you to all of you who stopped and said hello! One of our favourite finds was a 4 inch quick firing naval gun from HMS Devonshire!

Slouch Hat worn by Trooper Woolfrey. This hat dates from the Boer War when Woolfrey was serving as part of the 26th Dorset Company, Imperial Yeomanry. There's an Imperial Yeomanry red and blue cockade on the left side bearing a brass title 'QO DORSET IY' and grey ostrich feather

Today marks VJ Day! The Deons and The Dorsets were both present in the Far East at the end of the war, with the Dorsets going on to be part of the British Occupation force in Japan after the war was over.

The No. 15 ball grenade, dubbed the Cricket Ball Grenade by the ANZACs was only produced for a few months in 1915. After the defeat at the Battle of Loos in 1915, they were discontinued due to issues with their fuses.
