This is Railway Jack, an adventurous terrier from Lewes who loved train hopping across the south-east railway. A much-loved local celebrity, he was introduced to the Princess of Wales when she visited Sussex in 1883.

Our website has a new look! 💅 The banner currently features a photograph of Brighton seafront taken from the Chain Pier in around 1890. It stood near to our current Palace Pier and was monument in its own right, featuring in paintings by Turner and Constable.
