If we've learned nothing from Hatfield Rail Crash, safety has to come first. Getting a respected #rail engineer like Gareth Dennis sacked for raising safety concerns shows Lord Peter Hendy isn't suitable for government. Especially for someone responsible for our #railway.

8th week now. Children still in poverty. An entirely unnecessary and cruel political choice. Labour should be reminded every single day until they #scrapthecap.

#GoodNews - no, more than that, great news, for teachers, pupils, education and communities. Demonstration that #CampaigningWorks. Now to abolish Ofsted, which is a longtime policy of The Green Party theguardian.com/education/arti…

OFSTED don't create happy, healthy children. They don't create opportunities in the arts. They don't create funded SEND places. End the obsession with OFSTED judgements. Scrap OFSTED.

The suspension of *some* UK arms sales to Israel is welcome – well done to everyone in Bristol and across the UK who campaigned for this kind of action. But as my The Green Party MP colleague Ellie Chowns just highlighted in her question to David Lammy in the Commons, we are very

I pressed the government again yesterday to use the Planning and Infrastructure Bill to drive up new build housing standards: * solar panels on roofs as standard; * high insulation so that all new homes can be warm and affordable to heat.

Cutting Β£100m from #NatureFriendlyFarming is a short-sighted blow to our environment & rural communities. We need to invest in farming practices that benefit nature & sustainable food production - not undermine them. It's time for government to step up. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

The horror 7 years ago still lives with so many of us, and those directly affected will be finding today so hard. Everything failed them, especially a failure to listen and empower residents, and to live up to any public service ethos. I hope now justice for Grenfell is coming.πŸ’š

Today in Parliament I asked the Prime Minister to help fix wider systemic gaps not covered by the Grenfell Inquiry recommendations, or the previous Govt, to give residents more power and rights to information about their safety. He promised to consider it, for which I thank him.

It is vital that the budget the government presents in a few weeks includes a wealth tax on the very wealthiest in society to improve funding to the NHS. I challenged the Minister to increase resources for our overstretched health service.
