This is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in academic freedom. Congratulations once again to Greg Lukianoff and the FIRE team for helping expose the many colleges that flagrantly don't practice what they preach.

I am beyond proud of my alma mater— William & Mary — for ranking 12 out of 251 schools. Go tribe! It is beautiful to see the alma mater of the nation shine as a leader for promoting free exchange of ideas 💚💛

My alma mater, Indiana University, is in the bottom ten of the college free speech rankings — dropping 18 spots since last year. IU definitely has illiberal student attitudes. But the big killer is the administration's censorship of students and faculty over the last five years.

"Experiencing open inquiry and that process, having to grapple and have their views challenged" sets students up to be better "adult citizens in our country, once they graduate." 📑: FIRE’s Sean Stevens 🖥️: Fox News foxnews.com/media/harvard-…

Prospective students and parents should read these rankings and make college decisions accordingly. Colleges are not an undifferentiated blob. There are many schools (including elite schools) that respect free speech and maintain institutional neutrality. Choose those schools.

🔴 “7 out of 10 students are uncomfortable publicly disagreeing with a professor about a controversial political topic” Even students at schools that rank high on this list have told me they’re afraid to speak out in class because of being cancelled and socially ostracized.
