This was an emotional draft peppered by deep laughs, and both of those things feel very appropriate when discussing Lynn Shelton's work. I'm grateful I got to be a part of this to share memories of her and thoughts on her artistry and impact, and loved everyone's insights.

I just found out now (days after recording) that Frank Herbert's Dune won Emmys for Cinematography and for Visual Effects in a miniseries, and that knowledge has broken me. If it had also won for Costumes I would maybe never sleep again.

I have referenced this film numerous times to people who haven't yet seen it, because it seemed like the funniest dream/conversation I had and kept trying to place. So great and specific and weird (her mom is not wrong). Love people telling stories only they can tell.

Anyone curious about Lily Gladstone's range (or just people who like watching thoughtfully crafted character studies) should check out Certain Women. There is a two-minute scene that is just her driving away from an exchange that still haunts me.

Through all the BS, all the campaigning, all the imploding media brands, there are still the movies -- and this beautiful reminder of their power moved me to tears.
