Attending the Curve Lake Health Fair. I usually go in with a smile and come out with a frown. So many things that don’t work properly.

There are days I enjoy colonization: just had a shower, two cups of coffee, and petted my cat. Then there are other days...: dealing with my diabetes, paid my credit card: insurance, Costco. And dealing with contractors. Did Columbus bring contractors?!

It's a big day in the Taylor household. It's opening day for my play, COTTAGERS AND INDIANS, at the 1000 Island Playhouse in Gananoque, Ontario. It's about that classic tale, first told by the Greeks I believe, about Wild rice vs Canadian displaced urban dwellers.

I saw my show, COTTAGERS & INDIANS last night at 1000 Island Playhouse. I quite enjoyed the production, even though I kinda knew how it was going to end.

It seems practically every production of COTTAGERS &INDIANS, gets a few irate phone calls to the box office complaining about ‘Indians’ in the title. “How racist!!” Usually, I’m told, by White people. So many people don’t have a true understanding of Indigenous irony.

I have voted in our community’s embrace of electoral democracy. I keep telling myself this is supposedly how the Greek empire started. So, I’m expecting good things.

Yay!!! The Curve Lake Elections are over, and nobody died. In fact, I got one cousin as Chief, and about three or four as counsellors. The rest of us will be cutting their lawns I assume.

A young man at Peterborough’s Y stopped me in The hallway telling me how much he loved my essay PRETTY LIKE A WHITE BOY. I wrote that sometime in the late 1980s. Back when I actually was “pretty”… sigh…

My partner was watching afternoon television and casually said "I think somebody should do an Indigenous Soap opera." I started thinking and it seems such a natural idea. Either something in a well off community like Osoyoos, or a more downtrodden community. Who's with me?!?!

My partner and I were joking around re: differences between Urban and Rez Indians. She did not know the difference between a flat bed truck and a tractor towing a flat bed trailer. I on the other hand do not know or care about the difference between a macchiato and a cappuccino.
